Mother's Day and Self-Love: Things I'd Like to Tell My Daughter

As a mother, I hope to lead my kid to a happy and good life.
May 13 was Mother's Day. I got a note from the love of my life days before that. As usual, her message made me cry. She knows I'm under so much pressure at this time (for the past several years, actually). She also knows that I'm having a hard time figuring out what I want to do with my life - aside from trying to fulfill my role as her mom. She is my saving grace, my human oxygen. I would've gone long ago if she weren't around.

There are many things I'd like to tell her. Not sure if she'd take time to read this piece, but I hope when she does, she'd learn some lessons and use these reminders to protect and improve herself as a person.

Retreat - Taking Care of Myself

An online male friend recently found his third (and hopefully the last) love - a woman from Cambodia. Ross* happens to be one of the few quality men I met through OkCupid, a free dating site (that's not a referral link, by the way).

Don't get me wrong. None of these men has become an online lover nor will they ever be. We're all just pals. I used to regularly talk to all five of them, but only two are left. One helped me with my master's thesis (the statistical analysis part), while the other one is Ross. The others occasionally reply to my "just keeping in touch" emails.

Anyway, before Ross found his new life partner, he and I talked about our frustrations when it comes to relationships. He's been divorced twice, while I stay technically married because divorce among Christians remains prohibited in where I live. Plus, annulment is expensive. I'd rather use the money to support my child's education.

Current songs playing in my mind

Listening to music is one of my favorite hobbies. It helps me relax and escape to neverland. Daydreaming is like watching clips from a movie. It allows the dreamer to take control of the situation, if only within a mental plane. Good music, of course, adds spice to the story.

I recently saw an old TV interview featuring Sting, a great artist who writes superb lyrics. He performed "Every Breath You Take" at the end of the show. What made that session more special was the orchestra. I couldn't help but like the fusion. I searched YouTube for that video, but I saw other pieces that were similarly captivating. Here's my favorite of the lot:
